Thanks for your fast response,
With regard to my Jabiru with your LCH, I am quite happy with them.
I have flown around 20 hours now without problems.
Power is better, water temps are good (between 80°c & 100°c) using a small BOSCH pump and Rotax radiator. I will just add a temp sender that automatically cuts off the pump in final approach, because temp goes to 60°.

Paul, We have finished the install less the cylinder head shrouds. We ran the engine and found it had awesome on the heat control. The radiator reached 140°F (60°C) and the heads were 160°F (71.1°C) using my digital heat gun @ 1800 rpm running on the ground. I could hold my hand on the rocker cover after shut down, nice and cool. Very impressed with the quality of the head design so far. He will be flying the aircraft soon to get some flight numbers for you.

RAA Natfly Temora Airshow 2013

Temora Convention 2013 featuring Rotec Aerosport accessories and planes.

Notably, Paul Chernikeeff’s Flybaby and Derek Dyer’s Fisher Celebrity were displayed.

Also the show featured a Jabiru 3300 engine fully upgraded by Rotec, which included Alternator and Ignition conversion kits, as well as Liquid Cooled Heads and TBI.

Thanks to all who dropped in to say hello. Special thanks to Derek Dyer who flew all the way from Digby, VIC to display his plane at the booth.

Hi,

Just finished the electronic ignition and alternator conversion on my Jabiru J200. It has fixed the long term starting issues when in cold weather, as well as the charging issues.
It has taken some time to complete as I have taken the opportunity to do a significant overhaul of a lot of the basic wiring and circuits that were put into the aircraft when it was built in 2003/04.
I manufactured the basic mounting brackets for the ignition using sheet aluminium and a cheap bending brake and attached them to the firewall. It seems to be working okay and doesn’t interfere with any of the normal maintenance procedures. (Nothing worse than building what you think is a really clever attachment and then finding it gets in the way of some other engine part that you now can,t get to) The wiring looks a bit complicated in the photos but looks reasonably neat in real life.
I have some further testing and a few more wiring jobs to complete prior to testing in the air but so far the kit has worked very well. I was particularly impressed with the alternator mounting plate. Very well engineered.

Rotec Aerosport’s New Home for March 2013

The construction of Rotec Aerosport’s new home is well underway, and due to be completed March 2013. The new facility is situated at the well known Tyabb Airfield in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Using the recently opened Peninsular link freeway we are only an hours drive from the Melbourne’s CBD. The new facility will allow customers to fly their aircraft in to utilize Rotec’s full range of technical services. Rotec’s product manufacturing, assembly and sales will all be located under the one roof!

Oshkosh 2012

Rotec Aerosport at Oshkosh 2012. We were located at booth 638 in the northern aircraft display area. The show ran from July the 23rd to July the 29th 2012.

The show was a great success. We unveiled our newly proposed aircraft the Rotec Reliant. See images of 1/4 scale model below. It will boast a seriously fast modular assembly using a composite construction. You are welcome to contact Paul to register interest.

Hi Paul,

Just wanted to let you know that the LCH heads are working great. CHT’s run around 110 C in the warmer air temperatures of 30-35 C and down around 100 C in the cooler air. I am using a Rotax 912 radiator and a cap & thermostat housing from a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 motorcycle with an 82 C thermostat.

Hi Paul,

Just wanted to update you on a few things with the LCH heads. I have about 30 hours on them now along with some 100°F(40°C) days and they have been working great! I did make a coolant change recently. I had been using the Evan’s NPG+ coolant, and although it is a good product, it is a fairly thick coolant which in turn made the water pump draw much more amps than normal. It also makes the engine run about 20 degrees hotter than conventional coolant. The positive aspect of the Evans coolant was the fact that it does not boil until 375 degrees F. My temps are low enough that with either coolant, any boiling issue at this point would come from a mechanical issue, not a coolant issue.

I changed to a 50/50 glycol mixture and temps are even lower now and I have a much larger portion of my charging system to use due to the fact that the water pump is drawing very little amps using the 50/50 mix.
